- steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own
- use (another's production) without crediting the source
- commit literary theft
- present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source
Examples:
- Handing in someone else's work as your own
- Copying phrases and sentences without giving the author credit
- Presenting another person's ideas as your own (i.e., not citing him or her)
- Failing to put quotation marks around phrases and sentences copied verbatim
- Giving false information about a source
- Changing a few words within a sentence and paragraph while mainting the same strucutre and organization and not crediting the author
