What is the GRE?

The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is a standardized exam required for admission by virtually all graduate programs, both master's and doctoral level. The GRE is important because it permits admissions committees to compare applicants on the same scale. The GRE General Test measures the verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing skills you've acquired over the high school and college years. It is an aptitude test because it is meant to measure your potential to succeed in graduate school.
