SQ3R Method of Reading

By March 11, 2014

Follow me on:

Many students find that it's crunch time - midterms,  due dates, and other exams loom. With tons to cover in a short period of time, it's imperative that you read efficiently. SQ3R stands for 5 steps in reading: Survey, Question, Read, Recite, and Review. While you may not follow each step, surveying, or previewing what you're about to read, and questioning, or directing your reading by determining questions that your reading should answer, will improve your reading comprehension considerably. It's a simple technique, but it works.

I should think these procedures take more time compared to the reading and memorizing methods.

Try it, you’ll like it. I would set time limits w/ breaks and that, along with the SQR3 method, kept me on the Dean’s list.
