Share Some Notes?

Inside Higher Ed reports on a new phenomenon among students: Note-sharing websites. Just as some institutions, most notably MIT, make course materials available to all, new note-sharing websites allow students to share their notes with the world. Some argue that note-sharing is cheating. Others say its no different from copying a friend's notes after missing a class. Is note sharing a big deal? I took a very quick look at one of the note-sharing sites, GradeGuru, and I'm not so sure that it's much different than searching the Web. Either way, to benefit from using one of these sites, students have to learn course material -- which is the goal of education anyway.
