Masters vs. Ph.D.: The Difference Between a Masters Program and a Doctoral Program

Many of my own students come to me for advice on a very basic question: Should I apply to master's or doctoral programs? Some believe that it's easier to get into a master's program and then springboard into a doctoral program.
