What to Do When You Advance To Doctoral Candidacy

Graduate school is a long haul with few milestones with which to judge your progress. The lack of markers is part of what makes graduate study, particularly in doctoral programs, a challenge for students' intellectual, emotional, and even physical endurance. Advancement to doctoral candidacy occurs when you've passed your qualifying exams and all other academic requirements (other than the dissertation).
