Surviving and Thriving at Conferences

Academic conferences take place all year round. The American Psychological Association, for example, meets in July this year. I attended my first conference as a graduate student and I recall being excited, but also nervous. In this article, Dawn Rosenberg McKay, Guide to Career Planning, explains how to survive a business conference, including dealing with shyness, figuring out what to wear, and more. Though it's written with business contexts in mind, all of these tips also apply for academic conferences.
